Texas Tech University Health Science held workshops for over 500 middle school students Saturday morning.

The workshops are part of the “Medventure for your Future” program where CEO, Kelly Tomblin, of El Paso Electric gave the keynote address for those attending.

The event which was held at 5001 El Paso Drive was held with the goal of building interest in the health sciences to kids at a young age.

On Saturday, Jan. 28, hundreds of sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders from El Paso County will learn about health science careers during the 12th annual Medventure for Your Future from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso campus.

The free event, hosted by TTUHSC El Paso, aims to build interest in the health sciences at a young age. More than 500 students and parents have registered for this year’s Medventure for Your Future. The one-day event offers hands-on science workshops and provides parents with creative ways to encourage their children to learn about health sciences.

Heart, brain and veterinary medicine workshops are some of what students will explore on Saturday. Tours will be held in the Medical Education Building.

A special thank you to Medventure for Your Future’s presenting sponsors: El Paso Electric, FirstLight Federal Credit Union, Destination El Paso and our other generous event sponsors.
