Olympic Gymnast Reveals Who Punches Harder: Eddie ‘The Beast’ Hall or Hafthor ‘Thor’ Björnsson

Strongmen-turned-boxers Eddie ‘The Beast’ Hall and his arch rival Hafthor ‘Thor’ Björnsson settled their dispute in the ring back in March 2022, with the latter claiming victory in what was dubbed ‘the heaviest boxing match in history’. But who has the hardest punch?

In his latest YouTube video, Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson decided to find out. Having already been on the receiving end of Hall’s hardest punch back in March 2021, Wilson sought to settle the debate once and for all, offering up his abs once again to a punch from one of the strongest men on the planet. This time, from Björnsson, aka ‘The Mountain’.

For reference, Wilson is 5ft 4in and weighs roughly 9st 4lb. Björnsson, on the other hand, is almost three times as heavy, weighing 26st 4lb, and at 6ft 9in, he towers over the gymnast by well over a foot.

After a few warm-up punches, with Björnsson gradually increasing his power from 10% up to 50%, The Mountain unleashed his full power on Wilson, sending him and his chest guard flying across the room.

Once he’d recovered, Wilson gave his verdict: ‘It was such a long time ago that Eddie hit me, so it’s almost impossible to say who hits harder, but I feel like I’ve got to for the fans. But also, you’re stood there, 6ft 9in, towering over me… so, you hit harder. Congratulations.’

By the sounds of it, now he’s settled the debate, Wilson won’t be making a habit of taking punches from strongmen. ‘I remember after Eddie hit me and I feel like it’s exactly the same now,’ he said. ‘I’ve got a headache instantly. It’s like a whiplash. I had a headache for almost 48 hours after Eddie hit me and my head is pounding right now.’
