
She said: “However, there has been a recent review of all the evidence available regarding the use of these supplements [omega-3 supplements].
“This review suggested that even if the omega-3 supplementation may have a role in managing dry eye disease, the evidence available at the moment is still inconclusive.”
She continued: “In my clinical practice, I see patients who notice a significant benefit with taking these supplements, while others may not notice a difference.
“This could be caused by many reasons, but I believe that patients whose diet was already rich in these essential fatty acids may not benefit from further supplementation, while patients whose diet was deficient, may notice improvement.
