Supporters of Slidell Memorial Hospital, a fixture in St. Tammany health care for more than six decades, rendezvoused on the facility’s high-rise garage rooftop on Nov. 4 to enjoy a fall evening of fine food, libations and dancing under the stars. It was the 14th annual Rooftop Rendezvous fundraiser on Gause Boulevard in Slidell, and it raised money for SMH programs, technology and capital equipment. The medical network, which includes a Level III neonatal intensive care unit, the SMH Heart Center, the SMH Regional Cancer Center and SMH Physicians Network, most recently formed a strategic, long-term partnership with Ochsner Health to offer the community expanded local care through shared best practices, expanded services and advanced, patient-centered technology. Among other features, the partnership has added cancer clinical trials; expanded cardiology services, including 24/7 on-call heart surgery coverage; robot-assisted surgery; two dozen recruited physicians who provide primary care and specialized services; and specialty clinics, including the Comprehensive Weight Loss Center and Back and Spine Center.
