Monroe edges Health Sciences/BASC in Class B Far West Regional

Williamsville, N.Y. — Amari Colon and Tahjmir Mullins scored back-to-back touchdowns within the opening five minutes of action, and the Monroe defense continued its dominance as the RedJackets defeated Section VI champion Health Sciences/BASC, 14-6, in the New York State Class B Far West Regional on Saturday at Williamsville South High School.

With the win, Monroe clinched its first regional championship in program history and subsequently advanced to the state semifinals for the first time in program history.

“For me, this is what was expected,” said Monroe head coach Terrell Cunningham. “We were talking about this last year on November 11th when we lost to Batavia (in the sectional final) at Brockport. It’s an expectation for us to get to this point.” READ MORE.
