UWEC hosts health science careers day

EAU CLAIRE (WQOW) – Area high schoolers got an in depth look into the health science field Tuesday.

Hosted by UW-Eau Claire and the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences, students were able to attend interactive panels, engage with experts, gain insights into industry trends, and learn about a range of career paths and the skills required for success in the field.

Some of those career paths included audiography, radiography and sonography to name a few.

UWEC admissions director Isabel Walters said that it’s important to let students know early on what all of their options could be.

“All of the students here today have indicated some level of interest in a career or schooling in something related to the health sciences but may not be aware of the schooling entailed or other possibilities out there,” Walters said. “As much as we can partner and bring that content to them early really the better, so that they can help decide what makes the most sense for their future.”

UW-Eau Claire hopes to continue to hold events like this in the future.
