Anyway, she’s leaning a bit more into him while her hand is placed in her intimate space around the groin. “We only allow people who are close within those spaces,” Donaldson says. “She wants to stay connected to him because she’s bringing him into her space.” But it can also mean that she’s seeking security and comfort in this moment. Since she’s a bit hunched over, making herself smaller, she might be a little uncomfortable. She’s gaining security, though, from leaning into Timothée and holding his hand there.

By the way, how they’re holding hands matters, too. They’re maximizing their skin-to-skin surface that they can touch, which “increases the release of oxytocin, allowing people to feel good, safe, and secure,” Donaldson adds.
