FROSTBURG — Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, along with state and local leaders, attended the dedication and ribbon cutting Saturday for Frostburg State University’s new Education and Health Sciences Center.
“In this building lives opportunity,” Moore said during the dedication. “In this building there’s promise. In this building lives an understanding that if you can have a world class facility, you will create world class leaders who will change the world — people who every single day understand what it means to be Maryland tough and who understand that if we’re willing to invest in them now, the return on that larger investment that we’re going to have on our entire state is going to be profound.”
The $82 million center, which opened last spring, houses the College of Education and Health & Natural Sciences, along with the disciplines of kinesiology, education, nursing and the health sciences. Teaching labs for science, math, technology, health sciences and nursing are located within the new building, including nursing simulation labs. The building is also home to the Student Health Center and Student Counseling Center, which provide FSU students with modern health care services in a first-class wellness center, and the Children’s Literature Centre.
The building opening was delayed due to supply chain issues related to the COVID pandemic.
