Highlighting women’s health week

DELMARVA – This week marks Women’s Health Week.

Dr. Sally Dowling at Atlantic General Hospital is reminding women to make sure to take care of themselves, that includes making sure that your immunizations are up to date and maintaining your cardiovascular health. That includes blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Dr. Dowling says that’s especially important as women get older and enter menopause.

With the pandemic, Dr. Dowling says many people also skipped out on cancer screenings, so it may be time to get that back on the calendar. “Cancer screening and for women that involves cervical cancer screening, breast cancer screening, colon cancer and lung cancer screening for particular individuals depending on their smoking history,” said Dr. Sally Dowling, Vice President of Medical Affairs at AGH.

It’s also important for women to stay active, eat healthy, and have regular checkups with their primary care providers.
