AccuSplit, a Pleasanton-based manufacturer of digital stop watches, is donating more than 100 fitness kits to schools in the Tri-Valley area.
Each of the kits contains a variety of stopwatches and timers for use in school-based sports, fitness, and physical education programs.
Three Valleys Community Foundation (3VCF), a nonprofit that is working with AccuSplit, said the fitness kits, valued at about $1,000 each, are available to public and private schools in Livermore, Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon, Sunol, and other Tri-Valley communities.
“Physical fitness is such an important focus for our next generation,” said AccuSplit founder W. Ron Sutton. “I am delighted to work with 3VCF on this unique giving project and embody their community philosophy of ‘give where you live.’ I sincerely hope this gift can inspire and encourage physical activity and the development of lifelong healthy habits with our youth.”
The fitness kits are customized for elementary and secondary schools. In addition, each participating school district will receive Activity Wellness Guides to support staff wellness programs and pacing clocks for swimming programs.
