KUTV — It’s the season of fun, sun, and self-care.
The summer months present unique challenges and opportunities for those concerned about their hair and skin health.
During this time, there is increased exposure to the sun, higher humidity levels, and frequent dips in chlorinated or salty water. This can result in dry and damaged hair and skin.
For this reason, the trend of integrating beauty routines with seasonal activities continues to be highlighted by beauty enthusiasts.
According to a 2024 report by Mordor Intelligence, the global hair care market is expected to reach 90-billion dollars by the end of the year. This is driven by increased consumer demand for specialized hair treatments. Shampoos with UV protection and deep conditioning options are gaining popularity for their ability to restore and protect hair during the summer months.
The demand for skin creams that offer both protection and hydration during the warmer months is also on the rise. The American Academy of Dermatology has emphasized the importance of using broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher to protect against UV damage. This has led to a surge in products that combine both sun protection with moisturizing benefits. Additionally, lotions with lightweight and fast-absorbing formulas are essential to keep skin healthy, hydrated, and glowing without feeling greasy.
These advancements underscore a consumer shift toward products that offer multifunctionality and convenience, while allowing for self-care that seamlessly fits into summer lifestyles.
Lifestyle expert Christine Bibbo Herr spoke to Kari Hawker-Diaz about how to maintain a fresh look while engaging in summer fun.
