St. Luke’s to establish new college of health sciences

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — St. Luke’s University Health Network is opening a new College of Health Sciences, according to a company-wide email sent by President and CEO Richard Anderson and viewed by 69 News.

The email says the college is expected to be fully accredited next year and will prepare students for a variety of careers in health care. Three curriculums will be offered initially: radiologic technology, respiratory care, and an RN to BSN degree. Total initial enrollment is expected to be about 150 students.

Enrollment is expected to begin in fall of 2025 or spring of 2026. Classes will be held at the Priscilla Payne Hurd Education Center at St. Luke’s Bethlehem (Fountain Hill) Campus. A virtual option also will be available.

Healthcare is expected to grow at a higher rate than most other businesses, leading to a 20-40% increase in demand for technology positions in the Lehigh Valley by the end of the decade, the email says. The vacancy rate statewide in various technical positions is about 20%.
