I went in for an emergency treatment and needed a crown. I have always been super nervous about seeing the dentist and was even more so having to go (to the one place where you can’t wear a mask) during the global pandemic but somehow this was by far the best experience I’ve ever had.
The procedure was rather long but they made me feel as comfortable as possible. The room was a bit chilly because they have to wear so many layers of protective gear so they offered me a clean blanket to throw over my legs and even had headphones and a device for me to stream music or a podcast. I couldn’t have been more comfortable.
This was big for me — the doctor had to inject me with some Novocaine but I barely felt the needle and I’m not sure what kind of magic he used but the numbness only seemed to last while he was working on my mouth and by the time I got out of the chair there was no numbness left.
They answered all of my questions and explained everything that they did. I knew exactly what they were doing in the moment and left with clear information on what their recommendations for care and next steps were. They even recommended some additional treatments (a night guard for teeth grinding in my sleep) though I never at any point felt pressure to purchase or get treatments I didn’t need. It was all about presenting me with the best options for care.
I’m also just so impressed with the precautions they have taken to prevent the spread of Covid 19. I’m convinced that Dr. Collins and his staff have thought of everything. I appreciated not having to sit in a waiting room with other people, but sitting in my car until it was my turn (there was no wait, my appointment started right on time). They also checked my temperature, blood oxygen level and blood pressure to make sure that I had no symptoms. Everyone I encountered was wearing protective gear, they explained their steps to ensure sanitary conditions and even had an air filter in the room.
Dr Collins and his whole staff (from the folks I spoke to on the phone, to those I met in person who assisted him) are wonderful, professional and have their patients best interests at heart. Dr. Collins not only fixed my tooth, but I’m pretty sure he cured me of my dentist phobia!
