Women’s health fund awards grants to 13 nonprofits in SEK

KANSAS (KOAM) — Women’s healthcare in Southeast Kansas is receiving a grant from Rita J. Bicknell Women’s Health Fund at the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas.

According to the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas, the women’s health fund is granting $59,205 to 13 nonprofit organizations across the area.

“Being a member of the Rita J. Bicknell Women’s Health Fund has increased my knowledge of women’s health issues in Southeast Kansas,” said WHF member Lynda Wilkinson. “I have a better understanding of where I can direct my charitable dollars and how to help other women!”

Women’s Giving Circle – $51,705

  • Cherokee County Health Department- Making Lives Better, One Month at a Time
  • Coffeyville Regional Medical Center Foundation- Modern Monitors for Mothers and Babies
  • Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas- Training the Next Generation to Provide Obstetrical Care in Rural Kansas
  • Fostering Connections- College Care Packages for Girls
  • Horses of Hope Riding Center, Inc.- Georgia Becker Memorial Trail
  • Hospital District 1 Crawford County Foundation- Empowering Women’s Health
  • Safehouse Crisis Center, Inc.- Ready, Set, Home!
  • Wilson Medical Center Foundation- Health Equity: Mammogram Access Project

Circle of Friends Giving Circle – $7,500

  • Catholic Charities Inc.- SEK Neighborhood Financial Stabilization Project
  • Families and Children Together Inc.- Mom’s Night Out: Parenting Support Group
  • Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Four States- A Mother’s Nurture: Nursing Kits for NICU Families
  • SE Kansas Women Helping Women- Smile Again

Since 2007, WHF has granted over $400,000 to nonprofits in Southeast Kansas.
