A search is underway for a missing Fultondale teen who disappeared from her home sometime overnight.

Leslie Marilyn Richards was last seen by her mother at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. She was discovered gone from their home about 6:30 a.m.

Leslie suffers from mental health issues, said Det. Polly Johnson. The teen has run away from home once before when the family was living in another state but returned immediately.

Investigators and Fultondale firefighters have searched the woods line near her home but have turned up nothing. Leslie doesn’t have a cell phone and she is homeschooled so there are no classmates with whom detectives could speak.

Anyone with information is asked to call Johnson at 205-542-3001 or Fultondale police at 205-849-5456.
