What to expect: Health Sciences coach Ty Parker always says he wants to compete against the best, and he will have an opportunity to do so this weekend.
Maine-Endwell has been the top Class B program in the state this decade by winning back-to-back state titles in 2021 and 2022 and finishing as runner-up last year. The Spartans have scored at least 40 points in their previous three games and have 10 such games this season. If Health Sciences wins, it will become the first Section VI Class B team to advance to the state final since Lackawanna in 2000.

Health Sciences will have to play a nearly perfect game. The Falcons displayed that potential in the Far West Regional with a 32-0 win over Eastridge. Junior running back Kavon Pitts had 15 carries for 208 yards and two touchdowns in the victory.

“We like all challenges,” Parker said. “To be the best, you have to beat the best. I don’t have a problem playing the best teams in the state. We approach every game the same, but our energy level has to rise. Each game is more important than the last game, so your level has to rise. I try to explain that to the kids and I think we’re doing that. “
During the Section VI playoffs, Health Sciences defeated Olean 34-7 in the quarterfinals, Lackawanna 40-6 in the semifinals and South Park 22-18 in the final.
“We’re enjoying the ride, but we ain’t done yet,” Parker said. “Maine-Endwell is a great program, and we look forward to seeing them.”
