Stephanie Winn, a veteran administrator who began her career as a nurse, begins her new job on Feb. 17.
Winn takes over for Kelli-Ann Lemieux, who is the new CEO of Elliot Lake’s hospital.
Health Sciences North did not say how much Winn will make in her new jobs. Lemieux earned $230,804 in 2023, while Winn made $187,977 in her former position.
In a release, Health Sciences North said Winn will lead a team of five medical and administrative directors and more than 1,200 staff with the hospital’s Surgical Program, Medical Imaging, Pharmacy, Infection Prevention and Control, Laboratory and Pathology programs.
Winn has 24 years of healthcare experience, including 16 years in progressive leadership roles at HSN. She has served as the administrative director for the Shirley and Jim Fielding Northeast Cancer Centre since 2019 and has seen the cancer program achieve a first-place ranking out of 14 regional cancer programs in Ontario for all Quality of Care indicators related to cancer care.

Through this role, Winn has also provided regional leadership while helping to address gaps for patients across the region for cancer care by launching a new mobile cancer screening unit and a new Regional Indigenous Cancer Strategy, the release said.
She has also served as interim administrative director for Indigenous Health at HSN since 2024 and interim vice-president of Medicine in 2023.
“Stephanie has a wealth of leadership experience at HSN and at the regional level which will be important in helping to address health care gaps and improve how we care for patients of northeastern Ontario,” said David McNeil, president and Chief Executive Officer of HSN.
“She is well respected, seen as someone who can tackle problems by building strong working relationships, foster team collaboration and enhance staff engagement while achieving results. We are truly excited to have her join our senior team.”
Winn started as a nurse in the Nephrology Department at the former Laurentian Hospital in 2000 before moving into supervising roles by 2008 and director of HSN’s Nephrology Program by 2016.
While working in nephrology, she led the development of new services to address the needs of patients across the northeast, while serving on numerous regional and provincial advisory committees, the release said.
