While there are several ways to manage stress and keep eye health under check, in this article, we discuss the top yoga poses that you can do daily that can help.

Eye Rolling
Eye rolling involves a series of eye movements that require us to move our eye muscles in different directions.
Steps to Practice:
The first in this series is moving the eyes from left to right. The ideal way to do this is to sit straight in one’s seat, close the eyes gently, take a few deep breaths, allow the belly to expand and relax a few times, and gently open one’s eyes. With the head and neck in the same position, one can start by looking to the left and then mindfully, shift the gaze towards the right. This exercise can be continued for 10 repetitions.
Subsequently, one can then move their eyes all the way to the top, then one must roll their eyes all the way down. This must be continued for another 10 times.
Lastly, one can then focus on rolling their eyes clockwise in a full circle. Following this, the eyes are to be rotated in an anticlockwise direction. One can do this 10 times. These conscious and gentle eye rotation movements stimulate blood flow, providing oxygen and nutrients to the eyes and they increase the range of motion of the eye muscles as they get stretched and strengthened.
Consciously rolling one’s eyes in a controlled methodical way invigorates the eyes, promotes eye flexibility, relaxes them, and improves vision.
Healing Walk
Healing walk is a dynamic practice wherein a practitioner walks with his hands raised above the head, in a way that pressure is felt on the neck and shoulders. The neck is the connection between the entire body and the head and face.
Walking in this pattern daily 5 to 10 minutes, helps effectively build up pressure on the neck, which in turn balances internal pressure within the brain and body including ocular pressure. Engaging in the healing walk practice activates a unique connection between the middle ear (which oversees balance), the eyes, and the brain.
This feedback loop to the brain becomes more refined with consistent practice and improves hand-eye coordination by strengthening the muscles of the eyes, improving focus and concentration, and reducing stress at a holistic level.
Eye rinsing and cold packing
A practice called Netra Shuddhi Kriya involves rinsing the eyes with cold water which enables removing any dirt, irritants, and pollutants from the eyes.
This technique allows one to place their eyes in special eye cleansing cups filled with clean water and gently rinse the eyes for a couple of minutes. Due to this, burning sensations in the eyes get soothed and fatigue is alleviated due to prolonged exposure to screens and environmental pollutants.
This practice leaves the eyes feeling refreshed and promotes overall eye health. Similarly, applying a cold eye pack on the eyes also rejuvenates the eyes and releases any strain from overuse.
Thus, eye yoga can be highly effective in creating relief for the eyes including dry eyes, improving eyesight, releasing eye strain, promoting blood flow, strengthening the eye muscles, and boosting overall ocular function. By incorporating these simple practices into one’s daily routine, one can experience many benefits and maintain healthy eyes for life.
