Celebrities have been leaders on many health and beauty trends but sometimes the stars take wellness to the extreme.
From eating raw animal organs to reaping the benefits of animals’ semen — yes, you read that right — you’ll never believe the lengths some stars have gone to in the name of beauty, health and reasons.
Jessica Simpson, who previously went viral for mixing up chicken and tuna, made headlines in March 2025 when the singer shared an unconventional beverage her vocal coach advised her to try.
“They’re like, ‘What are you drinking?’” Simpson said in an Instagram video. “It’s, like, this Chinese herb thing and I’m, like, ‘I don’t know. My vocal coach told me to drink it.’”
After looking up the list of ingredients, Simpson learned that one of the items listed was snake sperm.
“And they Googled the ingredients and snake sperm [was listed]. It’s, like, a honey,” she continued. “So, if you want a good vocal, you gotta drink snake sperm!”
Simpson isn’t the only star who consumed an unusual item for health reasons. Before welcoming son Ryker in 2022, Heidi Montag altered her diet after a series of fertility struggles. The Hills alum decided to start a “carnivore” diet filled with lots of raw meat — including liver and bull testicles.

“Not too bad,” she shared in a February 2022 social media video of herself eating the latter. “[It’s] slippery. I might need to cook this. Here’s a little piece of it. Really chewy.”
Montag later opened up about how good she felt after making the change in her diet.
“I have been trying to get pregnant for over a year and a half, [so] I’m willing to try different things,” she told People in March 2022. “It’s a great source of nutrients! I have felt incredible on this diet. A lot more energy, clarity, increased libido and overall improvement on chronic pain I have had.”
While Montag is down to try unique foods, Nicolas Cage prefers to take his meals in an unusual manner.
“I love all animals. I have a fascination with fish, birds, whales — sentient life — insects, reptiles,” the actor told The Sun in 2010. “I actually choose the way I eat according to the way animals have sex. I think fish are very dignified with sex. So are birds. But pigs, not so much. So I don’t eat pig meat or things like that. I eat fish and fowl.”
Now on the beauty side of things, Shailene Woodley prefers to DIY her toothpaste rather than buying a pack from her local store.

“I make [toothpaste] out of clay,” the actress once said to host Jimmy Fallon during a 2014 appearance on The Tonight Show. “You don’t spit it out, you swallow it, so you’re getting your daily dose of medicine while you brush your teeth.”
While the method is odd, Woodley claimed that the practice is good for you since it allegedly “helps clean heavy metals out of your body.”

Unlike Woodley, Jennifer Aniston has participated in a popular beauty trend: the salmon sperm facial.
“I said, ‘Are you serious? How do you get salmon’s sperm?’” the Friends alum recalled asking her aesthetician in a 2023 interview with WSJ Magazine.
Aniston isn’t the only celeb who has given it a try as Kim Kardashian and Denise Richards have both gotten the treatment. However, for Aniston, she didn’t notice a big result.
