CINCINNATI (WKRC)— Local healthcare providers are encouraging women to seek specialized care for their unique health needs, from family planning to menopause. The TriHealth Women’s Services team recently discussed their approach during a women’s health special titled “Changing the Conversation.”
Dr. Kristin Coppage, a maternal-fetal medicine specialist, emphasized the importance of women advocating for their own health. “I think it’s important for women to know that if you look nationally we make about 80% of the decisions for healthcare for our family and while we do an excellent job of taking care of our family we don’t necessarily do a good job of taking care of ourselves,” said Coppage. “We hope through this that you are your own advocate and that especially at TriHealth we are here for you from birth to death.”
Dr. Marianna Vardaka, from TriHealth Obstetrics & Gynecology, encouraged women to seek help for any health issues. “To all the women out there, I say you know any problem you have come in we’ll listen to you and within our teams we can give you a very concise and fit to your lifestyle at that moment,” said Vardaka.
Dr. Regina Whitfield Kekessi, an obstetrician and gynecologist, highlighted the varied responses women have to different life stages. “Everybody responds to that lifecycle differently and symptoms can be addressed in a number of ways including hormone replacement therapy, lifestyle change and through education,” said Kekessi. “Things can be as wonderful and positive in our later years as it is in our younger years.”
