Jamaraqui Burks denied mental health diversion in fatal Stockton hit-and-run case

A man accused of killing a woman during a hit-and-run last year near San Joaquin Delta College was denied mental health diversion in court. 

During a hearing on July 14, Jamaraqui Burks and his attorney Denise Pereira were told that their motion for mental health diversion in their case was denied.

Burks is accused of killing 23-year-old Jazmine Floris on Oct. 24, 2024. Floris was walking their service dog near San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton when they were struck by a Tesla.
