SHREVEPORT, La. — A new partnership between LSU Shreveport and LSU Health Shreveport is creating a streamlined pathway for students pursuing careers in high-demand health fields.
The schools have introduced a “2+2” degree program, allowing students to complete their first two years of study at LSU Shreveport before transferring to LSU Health Shreveport to finish a Bachelor of Science degree. Available programs include cardiovascular technology, cardiopulmonary science, and medical laboratory science.
The collaboration was formally launched with a signing ceremony.
“This is a real opportunity for us to recruit students from local high schools who are interested in health sciences,” said Robert Smith, chancellor of LSU Shreveport. “They can spend two years on our campus, then just travel 15 minutes across town to complete their degree at LSU Health in Shreveport.”
The goal of the initiative is to provide students with a faster and more affordable path into the healthcare workforce — all while staying in the Shreveport area.
