SHREVEPORT, La. – LSU Health Shreveport’s School of Health Professions and Sciences held its summer commencement ceremony Saturday, marking the first graduation under its new name.
Forty-four students from four degree programs received bachelor’s or master’s degrees, including Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science, Master of Communication Disorders, Master of Public Health and Master of Physician Assistant Studies
The school adopted its new name earlier this year to reflect its growth, new academic programs and the evolving needs of modern healthcare. The change was recently approved by the LSU Board of Supervisors.
The Shreveport Second Line Brass Band led the academic procession, with students and faculty marching across campus and dancing to the beat of trumpets, tubas and drums.
