Virginia Beach OB-GYN practice to open women’s health facility in Town Center

Virginia Beach Obstetrics & Gynecology is expanding with a new women’s health facility in Town Center near the Regal cinema and coming Trader Joe’s.

The independent women’s health practice, which has served Hampton Roads for over 50 years, is investing in the future of patient care with a new 11,500-square-foot office at 100 Constitution Drive. The facility, scheduled to open in March 2026, will replace the practice’s Providence Road location.

“We will have enjoyed 35 years in the Providence space, but the layout and capacity were designed years ago for a much smaller practice size,” said Colleen Mathias, practice administrator. “This new facility enables us to better serve patients with enhanced services and greater access to the high-quality, compassionate care they expect from us.”

The new office will feature service enhancements and new amenities that include:

  • a pelvic floor physical therapy suite with two large treatment rooms and a private therapist’s office
  • two dedicated in-office surgical suites
  • upgraded diagnostic imaging that supports 3D imaging and saline infusion sonohysterography for gynecologic evaluation
  • separate phlebotomy/lab room for routine blood draws
  • and a larger waiting area and check-in/check-out zone designed with patient privacy.

“The most transformational new offering that we’re excited about is our new pelvic floor physical therapy program,” Mathias said.

While the region has multiple providers of pelvic floor physical therapy, Mathias said their integrated, physician-directed program is unique because it’s fully embedded within a comprehensive OB-GYN practice.

The program offers the coordination of surgical, medical and rehabilitative services under one roof. Some of the conditions treated are painful bladder syndrome, pelvic organ prolapse, urinary and fecal incontinence, chronic pelvic pain and bowel dysfunction.

Architect Jonathan Covington, of Covington Hendrix Anderson Architects in Virginia Beach, led the design of the new office within an existing building and was asked to support clinical efficiency while maintaining an inviting patient experience.

“We have attempted to create a space that maintains that desire for a great relationship with their patients while maintaining a high level of care,” Covington said. “We designed a pod layout, which gives each provider a dedicated space for their patients with their own exam room, restroom and nurse’s station. It makes a more comfortable space.”

Virginia Beach Obstetrics & Gynecology recently hired three doctors for the expansion and is actively recruiting another obstetrician-gynecologist and a urogynecologist to expand its subspecialty.

In addition to the Town Center location, the practice will continue to offer its services at its existing Virginia Beach locations at 1181 First Colonial Road, Suite 200, and 1925 Glenn Mitchell Drive, Suite 200.
