During your routine exam, our dental clinics may perform an X-ray to see if there are any hidden cavities or a chance of gum disease. There are several types of dental X-rays: bitewing, occlusal, panoramic, and periapical. The most common X-ray is a bitewing procedure where a dentist will have you bite down on a special piece of paper to view how the crowns of your teeth match up. This will help them investigate any potential cavities or tooth decay.
If our general dentists find problems with your teeth that include cavities, gum disease, and tooth decay during your exams or X-rays, they will recommend restorative procedures. These procedures include extractions (including wisdom teeth extractions), fillings, crowns, and front tooth root canals. These different options provide your teeth with permanent or temporary solutions that will improve your oral health. In an emergency, our general dentistry clinics provide walk-ins during specific hours.
