SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — LSU Health Sciences Foundation‘s signature fundraising event, An Evening for Healers, takes place on September 11 at 6 p.m. at the Shreveport Convention Center.

The event raises funds for LSU Health Shreveport.

As the only academic medical center in north Louisiana, LSUHS plays a vital role in local health services. This event raises funds for the school and spotlights first responders and healthcare professionals in the community.

Health literacy being pushed by LSUHS through Shreve Memorial Library

Two patient documentaries will air, highlighting their stories from the start to their recovery. First responders involved in their stories will be formally recognized.

Ochsner Health is the presenting sponsor. Sponsorships and donations raised help LSUHS recruit and retain faculty, acquire equipment, and support student programs.

Lsua, LSU Health Shreveport start fast-track OT program

LSU Health Shreveport is one of two health sciences centers in the LSU system and home to the only academic medical center in a 150-mile radius.

The school states its primary mission as “to teach, heal, and discover in order to advance the well-being of the state, region, and beyond.”
