A critical decade for women’s health

Peak bone mass for both men and women ends about 30. The critical “decade” is 36 – 46.

Anna McGee has a passion for fitness and especially women’s fitness.

She says the years between 36 to 46 are critical, especially because bone density begins decreasing in a woman’s 30s.

In the decade following turning age 36, McGee says lifestyle choices like inactivity, lack of sleep, smoking, and drinking begin to show. On the positive side, healthy habits during this time can reduce the risk of chronic disease.

McGee suggests starting with three things:

  • Protein
  • Strength
  • Sleep

She and her daughter own AP Training in downtown Duluth.
