Golf Has Officially Entered Its Gen Z Era

GOLF HAS OFFICIALLY entered its Gen Z era. No longer reserved for your dad and grandpa, the sport has found a new audience among young people. According to the National Golf Foundation (NGF), more than one-third of the U.S. population over the age of five played golf (on-course or off-course), followed golf on television or online, read about the game, or listened to a golf-related podcast in 2024—with participation highest among young adults ages 18-34.

Golf is very much having a moment. And while the sport still has a long way to go in terms of diversity (especially among the pros), it’s increasingly becoming more inclusive and accessible, thanks to new fit options, an explosion of golf content creators, and lower barriers to entry (who needs a $500+ driver when you have a simulator lounge?).

Ready to get in on the Gen Z-ification of golf? This guide has you covered. First, read up on how the sport has evolved in recent years, and on how top golfers are muscling up to drive the game even farther. Then undertake your own golfing muscle-up quest with a 4-week program designed specifically to infuse your swing with power and fluidity. (Just don’t forget this quick pre-game skincare routine, because nothing screams buzzkill more than a bad sunburn!)
