New Executive Director for MOCA is ready to advocate for women’s health

Meet Mary Uran, the new Executive Director of MOCA, as we kick off our Trees of Hope campaign.

Mary Uran has taken the reigns of the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance, MOCA for short. The new Executive Director spent time with WDIO ahead of the Light Duluth Teal Gala in September.

“Women’s health is really important to me. I want to see more investment in women’s health research and finding treatments,” she said.

“I’ve been spending time in community with survivors and their families. Hearing stories, about women we’ve lost too early to ovarian cancer. But the scientists and research community are doing really incredible work. I’m thrilled to step into a community with such strong infrastructure. And where we get to dream big about what the next few years could look like,” Uran added.

MOCA just hit the $13 million dollar mark in funding critical research for an early detection test and better treatments.

The non-profit is the first charity that we’re highlighting this season for the Trees of Hope campaign.

Make sure you tune in for the phone banks on Tuesday, November 25th, at 5, 6, and 10pm!
