WISCONSIN (WJFW) — Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin (D) held a press call on Wednesday to talk about the state of health care. With premiums rising and subsidies ending for many Americans, people are left worrying about what’s next.
Senator Baldwin said with all the issues and rising prices, insurance needs to see a change.
“Certainly two primary parts of it in the near-term are the two issues that we’ve talked about today; reversing the Medicaid cuts, and extending the affordable care act tax credits,” Senator Baldwin said.
Senator Baldwin added that health care shouldn’t be profit driven, and it should focus on the people who use insurance.
“There are so many in the healthcare industry that are there for profits, not for patient care,” Baldwin said. “Especially in the insurance and the administration of insurance, and maybe the free market economy and the profit driven economy doesn’t work for something like healthcare.”
Baldwin added that she wants to show Americans why they pay twice as much a month as any other industrialized country for health care.
