Trinity College of Nursing & Health Sciences awards scholarships to 89 students

Trinity College of Nursing & Health Sciences, Friends of Trinity and Trinity Health Foundation recently awarded nearly $200,000 in scholarships to students seeking healthcare careers.

The scholarships worth $191,925 were presented to 89 students during a recognition dinner at Rhythm City Casino in Davenport on Wednesday, March 25. The annual celebration honors the next generation of healthcare professionals, the families who support them and the donors whose contributions make these opportunities possible.

“These scholarships are more than a financial gift – they are an investment in the future of healthcare,” says Mary Macumber-Schmidt, Trinity Health Foundation President. “By providing scholarships, our donors are opening doors for talented students who are passionate about caring for others. These opportunities strengthen our workforce, our health system and ultimately, the health of our communities.”

Trinity College of Nursing & Health Sciences, Friends of Trinity and Trinity Health Foundation also honored Tracy Poelvoorde, PhD, Chancelor of Trinity College, with the UnityPoint Health – Trinity Lifetime Achievement Award for Community Health Improvement. This honor has only been awarded three times since it was established in 2018. The award honors people whose leadership reflects the mission of UnityPoint Health – Trinity and its commitment to strengthening community health.

“I nominated Tracy because her career embodies the very essence of this award,” says Macumber-Schmidt. “Her lifelong dedication to advancing healthcare education, her unwavering advocacy for students and her vision for collaborative, community-focused training have transformed not only Trinity College, but the future of healthcare in the Quad Cities.”
