National Park College honors nursing, health sciences students

National Park College recognized nursing and health sciences students April 16 during its annual Nursing and Health Sciences Honors Day.

The event celebrated student achievement and donor support, with more than $180,000 in scholarships awarded. The college awarded 74 scholarships to 200 recipients, a news release said.

Janice Ivers, dean of nursing and health sciences, said the event reflects the dedication of students and the generosity of donors.

“Although I was unable to attend this year’s event, I am incredibly proud of our students and deeply grateful to our donors who make this celebration possible,” she said in the release. “Each year, this event highlights the dedication and accomplishments of our students while recognizing the generosity that helps them achieve their goals.”

Ivers said the scholarships provide more than financial assistance.

“These scholarships provide meaningful financial assistance, but they also send a clear message to our students — that their goals matter and that their community believes in them,” she said. “That kind of encouragement stays with them as they move forward in their careers, and we hope it inspires them to give back in the future.”

The event also showcased NPC’s nursing and allied health programs, including registered nursing, licensed practical nursing, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, medical laboratory technology, health information technology and emergency medical services.

The college said Nursing and Health Sciences Honors Day reflects the “collective commitment of faculty, staff, clinical partners and donors, all of whom play a vital role in supporting student success and preparing graduates to make a meaningful impact in the healthcare field.”
