The Hyrox World Championships in Stockholm are well underway, and the men’s Elite 15 race has delivered a new world champion. US athlete Dylan Scott has claimed the 2026 Hyrox Elite 15 Singles Men’s title with a time of 53 minutes and 47 seconds.
Speaking to Men’s Health at the Nike Athlete House in Stockholm, Scott explained that his strategy was to stay controlled early, before applying pressure later in the race.
‘I have a pretty out there strategy in that I just am going to sit back early. I have a particular heart rate that I like to stick to early on and not exceed for the first 15 minutes of the race, because I know how taxing the sleds can be and how much they can blow you up. Honestly, the sled still ate my lunch. I got destroyed by the sled push,’ he admits.
‘I never gave up on the idea that if I just keep racing hard, people are going to fall back.’ His strategy paid off, despite finishing his earlier stations with lower rankings, Scott displayed a valid lesson in pacing, by finishing in the top 3 after burpees, and ultimately finishing in first place.
‘I don’t really think that I knew that just applying pressure and effort continually was going to move me up all the way to the first spot,’ he shared. ‘That was pretty surprising, as I think my reaction kind of showed. I wasn’t surprised by my fitness, and I felt that I had the fitness to win, but I was surprised on how it all kind of played out.’
A large part of that was keeping his cool under pressure, adding that, ‘The enemy of proper execution is panic. You cannot panic in a race. No matter how it’s going.’

Scott’s splits show how the race unfolded. While he didn’t lead every station, his ability to stay composed after the sled push and then stack top 3 finishes across the second half of the race proved decisive as he crossed the line first.
