Stanford Health Care has once again achieved national recognition for its excellent patient care — placing it among the top academic medical centers in the country — and for its commitment to environmental sustainability.
In annual rankings from Vizient, a national health care performance improvement organization, Stanford Health Care was again named in the top 10 of participating academic medical centers in the inpatient setting and earned a top 10 ranking among organizations evaluated for outpatient care.

The Vizient Quality and Accountability Study, conducted annually since 2005, evaluates more than l,000 hospitals segmented into seven cohorts based on hospital size, services and operational characteristics. The study measures inpatient care performance in six domains: safety, mortality, effectiveness, efficiency, patient centeredness and variation in care. In outpatient, also known as ambulatory, care, the ranking is based on five domains: access to care, efficiency, quality, continuum of care and equity.
Vizient also recognized Stanford Health Care as a top performer in its stewardship category. The award recognizes leadership and measurable achievements in sustainability and responsible sourcing through program maturity, preferred purchasing and strong executive commitment.
