
The State Minister for Trade, Harriet Ntabazi has urged the public to exercise to stay fit.
Speaking at the International Day of Yoga celebrations at Kololo Airstrip, the minister if people can exercise, there would be a reduction in the money spent on buying medicines, especially for non-communicable diseases.
International Yoga Day is celebrated across countries on June 21 every year since 2015. However. in Uganda, it was celebrated on June 19. The day is meant to spread awareness about yoga and its benefits for health and well-being. The day was organised by Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh –Uganda.
Ntabazi also commended Indians for employing most Ugandans in top positions adding that 40 percent of Ugandans were working in factories and industries owned by Indians.
The High Commissioner for India Ajay Kumar underscored the importance of yoga saying that it helps to keep the body, mind, and soul fit. ;
Ramesh Babu from SEWA Uganda appealed to the government to introduce Yoga to schools and Institutions adding that it makes someone’s mind healthy.
