‘My Unorthodox Life’ Star Julia Haart Filed For Divorce Just Hours After Being Fired From Elite World Group

  • Julia Haart, 50, who stars in the Netflix series My Unorthodox Life, was fired from her job at Elite World Group.
  • Hours later, she filed for divorce from her husband Silvio Scaglia.
  • Here’s what went down (and what the news means for the show’s upcoming second season):

Wednesday, Feb. 9 had a lot in store for Julia Haart. The 50-year-old, who stars in the Netflix series My Unorthodox Life, was fired from her job at Elite World Group and divorced from her husband, all in the same day.

Apparently, no one (not even Julia) saw the firing coming: “Julia had no idea when she woke up this morning that she was going to be leaving,” a source told Page Six. “The news of her departure went out on a trade website and then she filed for divorce in Manhattan Supreme Court around 12 p.m. This was absolutely not her plan for today. It’s f–ing crazy over at Elite.”

Another insider explained that Julia left at “9:30 or 10 a.m.,” noting that she was “completely blindsided.” The source also mentioned that Julia’s lack of experience may have resulted in her being fired: “She wasn’t equipped to run the business. Look at her resume,” they told Page Six. “People work for decades to become CEO and she had not had a big job until running La Perla.”

Julia worked alongside her husband, Silvio Scaglia, 63. Scaglia purchased Elite World Group, a fashion and talent agency, in 2011, before naming Julia co-owner and CEO after they married in 2019. Sources continued to say that Julia has been completely cut off from the company, mentioning that she can’t even be reached through her professional email anymore.

Legal experts are also weighing in. “The action taken to remove Julia Haart from her position as CEO was unauthorized and of no legal effect. She is a 50% owner of the business and was one of the two directors. Unfortunately this comes at a time when Julia and Silvio are in the beginning of divorce proceedings. Julia will enforce all of her legal rights and remedies,” Richard Edlin, the chair of the New York litigation practice at Greenberg Traurig, told Page Six in a statement.

As for who will replace Julia, an internal memo supposedly said that deputy chairman Paolo Barbieri will take over.

    What about the divorce?

Julia and Scaglia’s relationship had been failing for months. The first news of the couple’s split came in Dec. 2021, when sources revealed that the pair were still working together, but were no longer close, per Page Six.

In the past, Julia explained that her relationship with Scaglia had its ups and downs, even before they ever dated: “The first year of our interaction was me yelling at him. I was horrible to him,” she told The New York Times. “But I had a lot of respect for him. As sheltered as my life had been, his life had been the diametric opposite. He’d been everywhere. He’d seen everything. And when I yelled at him, he took it like a man. That made me happy.”

What does this mean for My Unorthodox Life?

The show was officially renewed for a second season in Sept. 2021, according to Us Weekly—and it seems like the streaming service is charging ahead with its plans for more episodes. “The whole basis of Season 2 was going to be seeing Julia separated from Silvio and dating in the city,” a source shared with Page Six.

And, season 2 has already started filming. “They only started filming six days ago. She would have filed for divorce before the premiere to drum up press,” the source added. Julia herself seemingly confirmed via Instagram that Scaglia will at least make an appearance in the second season: “And just like that.. we’re back! Day 1 of filming is complete ✅,” she captioned photos of them together.

The second season will likely also address Julia’s daughter Batsheva’s divorce from her ex-husband, Ben Weinstein. “After time and consideration we have made the decision to separate. We have so much love and respect for each other but have realized that it is time to take some space to ensure that each of us live the most joyous, fulfilling lives possible,” Batsheva shared in an old Instagram Story, Us Weekly reported.

“There are no secrets nor salacious events to blame. We are just two best friends who met at a very young age and have grown over the past 9 years each in our own way. We so appreciate your continuous support as we embark upon this new chapter of our lives, separately.”
