I-820 at Azle Ave. overpass reopens; police respond to mental health crisis

All lanes of Interstate 820 reopened after being closed due to a mental health crisis Thursday afternoon at the Azle Avenue overpass near Lake Worth, Lake Worth police said in a social media post.

The individual was safely detained, police announced at 5:50 p.m. on X.

Police announced the closures of the east and westbound lanes at 4:20 p.m. Thursday on X. Officers were responding to a person experiencing a mental health emergency, according to the post.

Authorities asked drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
