Eye on health: Despite doctors predictions, he overcame a medical miracle

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — From death predictions to beating all odds, this is a story which doctors are calling a medical miracle.

At 14 weeks pregnant Faylon Granger went for her checkup hoping for good news.
Instead, her world and her families world changed suddenly.

“They told me I had no amniotic fluid left. He was drinking the fluid but his kidney was not allowing him to urinate it out,” Granger explained.

The absence of amniotic fluid not only affected Braden’s development in the womb but also made it difficult to get clear ultrasound images, leaving doctors to speculate about what’s happening.

“They told me you are going to have a miscarriage at some point ,so we prepared for that,” said Granger.

Falyn and Brian sought second and third opinions, eventually reaching out to the New Orleans children’s hospital. Unfortunately, they received the same report, this time at 21 weeks. Although advised to consider abortion, they chose to proceed with the birthing process.

“I didn’t feel like my baby was going to pass away. I just had that feeling that he wasn’t,” said Granger. “We had the funeral home at the hospital to pick him up. We had an outfit to wear.”

However, miraculously, when it was time to deliver their unborn baby, fate intervened and made a different decision.

“Nobody had anything positive to say about my pregnancy, when he gave out screaming the doctor was like I, cannot go through with the palliative care and they saved him,” said Granger. “Now several years later after undergoing numerous treatments, surgeries and a kidney transplant, Braden continues to light up every room he enters.
