Eye health heroes save the world in new book

A book written to ease children’s fears about having their eyes examined has been published by Northampton-based independent Tompkins Knight & Son (TK&S).

Brian Tompkins, director at TK&S, said: ‘The book is a fun way of introducing children to the team they’ll meet when they come to see us while explaining all the tests we’ll be carrying out and how we can help them to keep seeing better for longer.’

Sunny’s Trip to the Optometrists tells the story of a boy who meets a real-life team of eye health superheroes, including the Eye Wizard and the Dry Eye Doc, and together they take on the world in their never-ending fight for sight.

TK&S commissioned optometrist Rebecca Ireland to illustrate the book, which will be made available to parents to read with children before booking an appointment.

‘Getting your eyes examined regularly is vital for long-term eye health but for some children it can seem daunting. We wanted to create something that gets them relaxed and actually looking forward to their visit,’ Tompkins added.
