WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — An upcoming community event is aiming to bring people together in support of mental health.
Mental Health America of the Palm Beaches is inviting everyone out to Dreher Park for the “Lead With Love 5K and Wellness Walk.” The event is designed to get people moving, connecting, and taking simple steps toward better mental well-being.
Andy McAusland, the CEO of Mental Health America of the Palm Beaches visited ARC Florida on March 20.
McAusland says while the 5K offers a traditional race option, the event goes beyond that with its Wellness Journey Walk. Participants can move at their own pace and stop along the route for interactive experiences focused on mindfulness, creativity, and relaxation.
Research from the U.S. Surgeon General’s 2023 Advisory on the Healing Effects of Social Connection shows activities like art, movement, and social connection have been shown to reduce stress and improve overall mood. Bringing people together in a shared space can help foster a sense of belonging and emotional support.
For anyone who may be struggling or feeling isolated, organizers say events like this can make a real difference.
The “Lead With Love 5K and Wellness Walk” aims to create a welcoming environment where the community can come together, support one another, and focus on mental health in a positive, engaging way.
Participants can register at mhapalmbeaches.org or sign up on-site the morning of the event. Registration is $45 for adults and $10 for the children’s dash.
