YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Panera Bread will be kicking off its fourth annual Chip in for Children’s Mental Health campaign on Monday, May 4.
The fundraiser is being held in honor of May being Mental Health Awareness Month.
Starting Monday, $1 from every Chocolate Chipper Cookie sold will go to funding a community outreach education coordinator. The position was created through Akron Children’s Hospital to support teachers with resources for students who have experienced trauma.

“It’s very important because, with the mental health crisis in this country, the need is greater than ever. We’ve been able to donate nearly $125,000 since we started working together,” said Danielle Covelli, marketing director of Covelli Enterprises.
“It is so important, and the work that we’re doing is in such high need,” said Nicholas Morio, a community outreach coordinator with Akron Children’s Hospital.
All seven Panera Bread locations across the Mahoning Valley will be participating.
The fundraiser will run through May 10.
