Mansfield, Pa. — The Mansfield Laurel Health Center will host a Women’s Health Day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 27 at 416 S. Main St., Mansfield.

Appointments are recommended to reserve a specific time slot and can be scheduled by calling 570-662-2002. Walk-ins are welcome, but will need to wait in the waiting room for an opening in the schedule.

“Preventive screenings and wellness exams play important roles in keeping us healthy, but it can be tempting to put off preventive care when schedules are busy. Women often manage healthcare appointments for their entire household yet frequently put their own wellness care last on their to-do list,” said Samantha Ordiway, Laurel Health’s chief operating officer.

“As we mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Laurel Health wants to encourage women to prioritize their well-being by making it easier to stay on top of wellness care, including a walk-in wellness option on Oct. 27 at our Mansfield health center,” Ordiway continued.

The day will be led by Marcelinda Griffiths, a certified registered nurse practitioner who has more than 30 years of health care experience caring for patients of all ages. She has a background in family medicine, critical care, and women’s health services.

During the event, Griffiths will provide wellness screenings, patient education, physical exams, and treatment for a range of women’s health issues, including:

  • Breast exams to check for lumps or changes

  • Referrals for mammograms as needed for age-based screenings or follow-up

  • Menstrual problems, such as heavy bleeding or painful periods

  • Perimenopause and menopause, including symptom management and treatment options such as hormone replacement therapy

  • Education on preventive screenings, including when to begin and how often to get them

  • Cervical cancer screenings (Pap tests)

  • Birth control, including the different types of contraception available

  • Incontinence (involuntary loss of bladder control)

  • Testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, including genital warts

  • PrEP (HIV prevention)

  • Pregnancy tests

  • Women’s wellness exams (physicals)
